Climbing and Workshops
Climbing in Istria and its surrounding is a little paradise, with limestone walls shaped by water and time.
The routes range from friendly slabs to proud vertical lines and overhanging tufa lines - perfect for learning and progressing - there will be routes for everyone.
The closest crag, Kompanj, is only a few minutes’ walk from the lodge, with routes from 5a to 8c+ and pitches typically between 20 and 35 meters.
We will also travel to the coastal crags, where you can climb by the sea and cool off with a swim between goes.
Sara and Juho will join every day on the rock to offer individual feedback, help in choosing climbs that match your goal and to simply climb together.
Local food, restorative yoga and authentic living
You’ll stay in the beautiful Stone Lodge ll at Mountain Lodge Istria, surrounded by quiet hills and open nature landscapes.
Full pension is provided on climbing days;
○ Nourishing breakfast is served at the lodge every morning
○ Crag-lunches for the days out climbing
○ 3-course dinners are served in the evenings at the lodge by local chef.
(Lunch and dinner on the rest day is enjoyed at a local restaurant and paid individually).
Each morning begins in the yoga studio with Sara or Jasna where you will be guided through yoga, meditation or a gentle somatic practice.
The sessions are designed to form a foundation for moving confidently on the rock - restoring the body, regulating the nervous system and building awareness before stepping into a day in the vertical. After practice, breakfast is served.
There will also be time left open; hike or run in the vast Croatian nature, read a book, sip coffee in the village or simply sit in silence. The rhythm of the week is shaped together as a group - your wishes are welcome.

About the instructors
Juho Knuuttila
is an IFMGA mountain guide and a versatile climber from eastern Finland.
He is recognized for his calm, precise approach to climbing, shaped by 15 years of moving on walls across all disciplines - from pumpy sport routes to technical alpine faces - giving him a broad and grounded understanding of movement, strategy and risk management in the vertical world. Juho is an active new-router with a sharp creative eye for finding and establishing aesthetic lines, both on rock and in the mountains.
His teaching is rooted in technical efficiency, mindset and tactics. Juho brings a quiet enthusiasm to the crag and is excited to share his deep passion for climbing throughout the week.
Sara Skoglund
is a yoga teacher and a dedicated climber with a long connection to the mountains. Raised in a small village in the Swedish highlands, her relationship and fascination with nature started early. Sara got introduced to climbing at a young age through her parents. After stepping away from the sport for over 10 years due to fear, self-doubt and lack of external support, she returned with renewed passion and a deep interest in the mental aspects of climbing.
With a background in dance and somatic practices, Sara brings an attentive approach to movement, balance and technique in climbing.
Her work bridges the physical and the psychological—supporting climbers in meeting fear, refining body awareness, and exploring what lies beyond pure performance.
She looks forward to sharing her experience and knowledge of fears, movement and the inner landscapes of climbing.
